Job Title: Technical Product Owner

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £40k - 50k per annum + annual bonus

ICS has identified an opportunity to create and fund a new technology business to lead the on-demand revolution in staffing.

We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced candidate from an Agile Business Analyst or/and Product Owner background to join our Faber team. We are a small and enthusiastic Agile team located in a single office that contains the entire software development team in Birmingham City Centre.

The successful candidate must be an agile practitioner with experience of working within an agile team having previously lead agile ceremonies, technical experience is not an essential for this role.


  • Engage with clients to gather business requirements for the product and then transform these into user stories and acceptance criteria that can be estimated and tasked out by software team
  • Serve as the conduit between clients and the software team to ensure the context of features to be delivered are understood within the team
  • Manage external and internally driven tasks, stories and bugs via a prioritised product backlog, factoring in multiple streams of concurrent work
  • Collaborate with the the team to refine user stories in preparation for sprints
  • Work with the team to evaluate solutions and their respective risks and constraints in order to arrive at the most suitable solution to deliver a feature
  • Work in conjunction with the delivery manager and other senior team members to contribute to short-term and strategic planning
  • Work with the team to triage issues or constraints that arise during feature development, adjusting story scope or prioritising bugs accordingly
  • Engage with the team to understand internally driven changes at a high level including code refactoring, automation and architectural changes, so that you can plan them into the product backlog


  • Minimum of 3 years experience working within a Product Owner position or within a  Senior Business Analyst role as part of a software development team
  • Experience in interfacing with stakeholders outside of the development team to gather complex business and functional requirements   


  • Experience in breaking down solutions into epics and stories for teams to deliver within an agile delivery environment
  • A pragmatic approach to problem solving, able to make evidence based decisions quickly and confidently justify those decisions via written and verbal communication
  • Represent complex ideas in written word and diagrammatic form without ambiguity.
  • Manage workload and commitments on your own initiative with only high level steer from senior management
  • Communicate with technical and business stakeholders from operational to senior management level in both group and 1 to 1 and discussions, using an appropriate methods catered to the audience.
  • Participate in and encourage a mindset of continuous feedback loops both amongst the team and with the client and user base
  • Ability to balance the strategic objectives of the team against client priorities to deliver customer satisfaction without compromising the core product ethos and direction
  • Appetite to lead a team, not just by creating standard processes and templates but through leading by example, encouraging others, sharing knowledge and progressing individual and team objectives
